Free travel: from the Golden Triangle to the shores of Khao Lak

Morning departure to reach the dock and take public water buses heading towards the center, on the right bank and the flower market district of Pak Khlong Talat.

You are embarking on a journey to discover the architectural gems of Bangkok. Marvel at the splendor of the Grand Palace of Bangkok, built in 1782: a sumptuous complex of buildings and inner courtyards, including the Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). You will discover the famous Emerald Buddha, a precious statue dating from the 14th century, at the heart of one of the most venerated sanctuaries in the country.

Then, on foot, you reach Wat Pho, one of Bangkok's oldest temples, renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and elegant pavilions. You discover the impressive Reclining Buddha, an iconic figure of the site, as well as the interior courtyards dotted with stupas and refined decorative details.

Then, you cross the river by small boat to reach Wat Arun, the famous "Temple of Dawn", standing on the right bank. Upon arrival, you admire its spectacular central prang, finely decorated with porcelain mosaics and floral motifs that glimmer in the light.

Ride aboard a private traditional "long-tail" boat-taxi on the Chao Praya river, one of the country's most important waterways and a vital artery of Bangkok. As you travel along the water, you discover the "Venice of the East", between peaceful klongs, stilt houses and small temples hidden along the banks.

We make the most of this last day in Bangkok to visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market, the largest market in the country. An opportunity to find the last souvenirs, or to taste the various local specialties.

Upon arrival in Chiang Rai, we visit the extraordinary Le Wat Rong Khun "white temple", a contemporary creation by one of Thailand's most renowned artists: Chalermchai Kositpipat.

In reality, while the site mimics the appearance of a religious complex, its purpose is quite different: the nine buildings house extraordinary works of art, from meditation Buddha statues to pop culture idols like Michael Jackson, as well as murals that celebrate the doctrines of Theravada Buddhism. Its immaculate white color gives the building a unique and surprising character.

Continue to Wat Rong Sua Ten, known as the "blue temple", a work by a disciple of architect Chalermchai. There you will observe sculptures of Buddha in lotus position as well as figures of demons, legendary nagas—half-man and half-serpent creatures—and paintings illustrating events from the earthly life of Gautama.

We end the day at Wat Huay Pla Kang, known for its enormous white statue representing Guanyin, the goddess of Mercy. Its nine-story pagoda offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside and rice fields.

Free day in Chiang Rai, take time to explore the city at your own pace. Wander through the lively streets, soak in the local atmosphere and admire the unique architecture of the temples and historic buildings. Take the opportunity to discover local markets, where you can find artisanal products and taste the exotic flavors of the region. Also take time to relax in one of the city's parks, where you can recharge in the shade of the trees.

At the end of the day, treat yourself to a stroll along the Kok River to admire the sunset over the city. It's a perfect day to soak up the magic and tranquility of Chiang Rai.

Continue your tour of the north and head towards Chiang Mai. Enjoy a free leisurely walk through the old town center, including a visit to the magnificent Wat Sri Suphan temple, located in the silversmith street district of Wualai. This temple is entirely covered with silver plaques and other metals; you can see artisans working with metal on site.

With your guide, you make a detour through the great Warorot market, where you can find all sorts of specialties from northern Thailand, such as Sai Ua (northern sausage), Moo Yo (traditional Vietnamese pork sausage), Nam Phrik Num (northern green chili paste) and dried fruits, among other delights. In addition to local food, the market also offers clothing, ceramics, fabrics, embroidery tools, flowers, and much more.

Then head towards the Doi Suthep temple, perched on the mountainside at approximately 1,200 meters altitude. A true symbol of Chiang Mai, this magnificent Buddhist temple offers an atmosphere filled with serenity and spirituality, where statues, shrines and bells accompany the faithful and visitors in a moment of contemplation. According to legend, its location was chosen by a white elephant carrying a sacred relic of Buddha: after climbing the mountain, the animal is said to have stopped at the summit, trumpeted three times and then lain down, thereby indicating the place where the temple was to be built. Today, its terraces offer a spectacular view over the city and the surrounding valley.

Along the way, stop at the Wat Pha lat, a more discreet temple nestled in the forest, appreciated for its peaceful setting and almost confidential atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Finally, we will end our day with a visit to the Wat Umong, a Buddhist temple founded in the 13th century and nestled at the foot of the Doi Suthep mountains. Surrounded by forest, this monastery offers a particularly peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

We will discover the history of the place by crossing its ancient tunnels, carved out for meditation. It is also an opportunity to exchange, when possible, with the resident monks and learn more about monastic life.
