Thailand Uncovered: From Northern Mountains to the Andaman Coast

Morning departure to reach the pier and take public boat-buses heading towards the city center, on the right bank and the Pak Khlong Talat flower market district.

You set out to discover Bangkok's architectural gems. Marvel at the splendor of the Grand Palace of Bangkok, built in 1782: a sumptuous complex of buildings and inner courtyards, including Wat Phra Kaeo (Temple of the Emerald Buddha). You discover the famous Emerald Buddha, a precious statue dating from the 14th century, at the heart of one of the country's most revered sanctuaries.

Then, on foot, you reach Wat Pho, one of Bangkok's oldest temples, renowned for its peaceful atmosphere and elegant pavilions. You discover the impressive Reclining Buddha, an emblematic figure of the place, as well as the inner courtyards dotted with stupas and refined decorative details.

Next, you cross the river by small boat to reach Wat Arun, the famous "Temple of Dawn", standing on the right bank. Upon arrival, you admire its spectacular central prang, finely decorated with porcelain mosaics and floral motifs that glitter in the light.

Ride aboard a traditional private "long-tail" boat-taxi on the Chao Praya river, one of the country's most important and the true lifeblood of Bangkok. As you travel along the water, you discover the "Venice of the Orient", between peaceful klongs, stilt houses and small temples hidden along the banks.

We take advantage of this last day in Bangkok to visit the Chatuchak Weekend market, the largest market in the country. An opportunity to find the last souvenirs, or to taste the various local specialties.

Transfer by metro or river boat (ticket not included).

In the company of your guide, you make a detour to the Warorot market, where you can find all sorts of northern Thailand specialties, such as Sai Ua (northern sausage), Moo Yo (traditional Vietnamese pork sausage), Nam Phrik Num (northern green chili paste) and dried fruits, among other delicacies. In addition to local food, the market also offers clothing, ceramics, fabrics, embroidery tools, flowers, and much more.

You then leave the city center and head uphill towards the Doi Suthep temple, perched on the slopes of the mountain at approximately 1,200 meters altitude. A true symbol of Chiang Mai, this magnificent Buddhist temple offers an atmosphere steeped in serenity and spirituality, where statues, sanctuaries and bells accompany the faithful and visitors in a moment of contemplation.

On the way, stop at Wat Pha lat, a more discreet temple nestled in the forest, appreciated for its peaceful setting and almost exclusive atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Visit to Wat Umong, a Buddhist temple founded in the 13th century and nestled at the foot of the Doi Suthep mountains. Surrounded by forest, this monastery offers a particularly peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

You discover the history of the place by crossing its ancient underground tunnels, dug for meditation. It is also an opportunity to exchange, when possible, with the resident monks and learn more about monastic life.

🛕 Morning: Temples and Heritage

• Wat Phra Singh: This 14th-century temple is a gem of Lanna architecture, housing the venerated Buddha Phra Singh.

• Wat Chedi Luang: Admire the majestic ruins of this 15th-century chedi, once one of the tallest in the city.

• Wat Phan Tao: Less visited, this wooden temple offers a peaceful and authentic atmosphere.

Enjoy a local coffee or traditional massage at one of the many establishments in the old town.

🛍️ Afternoon: Warorot Market (Kad Luang)

About 15 minutes' walk from Tha Phae Gate, Warorot Market is a must-visit to immerse yourself in local life.

Local Products: Discover northern specialties such as spicy Sai Oua sausage, Nam phrik num green chili paste or Moo yo (Vietnamese pork sausage).

Crafts and Textiles: Explore stalls offering traditional clothing, fabrics, ceramics and handcrafted items.

Chinese Atmosphere: Located in Chiang Mai's Chinese quarter, the market offers a unique atmosphere with varied cultural influences.

🌺 Option: Ton Lam Yai Flower Market

Just next to Warorot, this colorful market is ideal for admiring a wide variety of fresh flowers and soaking up the local scents.

This morning go meet the Karens of Mae Wang! a morning walk in the village, then drive to Chi's camp, a young Karen who will show us his elephants and his way of life.

Upon arrival, prepare fruits to feed the pachyderms.

Then go for a walk together in the Jungle where the elephants will continue to feed and with which you can interact in a natural environment.

Finally, you will attend the elephants bathing in the river.

Early in the evening, the night market sets up on Yaowarat Road and its illuminated side streets, which give new life to the quarter. You'll find all sorts of Thai and Chinese specialties for dinner there.
